Jane's painting Heartland Horror is inspired by the pulp detective magazines that were popular from 1930s to the 1950s - she has appropriated a 1950s cover of a scared woman in a convertible sports car and placed her in a wheat field in the USA heartland

allowing fleeting glimpses of light that accentuate the ridge's dark contours

This lilac bush grows in my backyard from a small cutting I planted over twenty years ago. It's the most beautiful sight when it flowers.
