DGC forms a link between the F actin cytoskeleton and the extracellular matrix. This protein is expressed most abundantly in skeletal and cardiac muscle. Mutations in this gene have been associated with autosomal recessive limb girdle muscular dystrophy and dilated cardiomyopathy.
